  1. Paul Gupta

Is anyone currently logged in via conversations for Android?

  2. Ariel Mirage

    I am using blabber.im.

  3. contrapunctus

    Monocles Chat here.

  4. jayaura

    I'm on conversations Paul Gupta

  5. Paul Gupta

I tried joining conversations@conference.siacs.edu (the default channel for the app) and was greeted with "you are not participating" I'm just confused. Joining this channel obviously worked but idk why it isn't working there fully. I can see messages but can't send?

  6. Paul Gupta

    Jayaura

  7. Paul Gupta

    @jayaura

  8. dora71

Paul Gupta: The conversations channel is moderated. That's why you get this message. Nevertheless you can follow the chat and if you want to have write access feel free to ask the admins.

  9. Paul Gupta

    Aah. How?

  10. Paul Gupta

I didn't see a *ask to join* button

  11. dora71

You can send a private message to an admin.

  12. Zash

or "whisper" as Conversations calls it

  13. dora71

    > I didn't see a *ask to join* button This maybe worth a feature request 🤔

  14. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

cheogram has an ask for voice button in moderated rooms

  15. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    so maybe something similar

  16. dora71

MSavoritias (fae,ve): Interesting. Do you know if it is working for every moderated room and how it exactly works? Do all moderators get a hint?

  17. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

that would be my guess yeah. because cheogram also divides participants based on their priviledges. owners, moderators, participants, muted

  18. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

but im not sure how it works exactly. the cheogram room discuss@conference.soprani.ca would be the place to ask

  19. menel

Only admins that use a client that understands that gets a hint. Not admins that use conversations for example. But gajim does

  20. menel

    Using https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0045.html#requestvoice

  21. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

ah thats the feature. at least i am using gajim so i can see it :D

  22. dora71

Any other clients that support it apart from gajim?

  23. Zash

Not entirely sure but maybe Converse.js

  24. Zash

but I may be confusing it with some related feature like registering your nickname or somesuch

  25. L29Ah

    tkabber, but it's ugly there
