Messenger and WhatsApp..... I know that WhatsApp is the backdoored version of a Signal clone from the repo that I was told Moxy himself built under contract. I've never used either one. Welll... Full disclosure, I have (I think) used Messenger - the web-based one when you're logged into Faceplant, but it's been so long since I've even logged in there; I heard they removed it and now people have to use a standalone version of Faceplant Messenger. It's good to hear you're making the switch anyway @elmanxp - or are you switching back? Personally, XMPP has for over 25 years been my goto com system for priority items - like machines telling me they're broken, or under attack, etc. I tried SMS here and there - I don't care much for it compared to XMPP. I do a lot of participating in Matrix rooms (support chans), much as I do for IRC; and still, I prefer XMPP for managing infrastructure. Friends also know that I'm much more inclined to anser XMPP before email or Matrix, or any other protocol (a lot of that reason is that I don't get that much traffic from humans) because the signal to noise ratio is much better. ✎
