I agree! fwiw, I'm planning to add some decent support in Convo (as a stretch goal for the NLnet funded project, but even if not then I'll go ahead and do it anyway)

This would also be a way to make services more widely accessible: implement them in adhoc, and people can use them via any XMPP client on any platform of choice

I could be wrong but my feeling is once people see how much more logical and discoverable adhoc is compared to a chat bot it will be a popular unique feature.

Like interfacing with a gateway is so much more intuitive.

jjrh, I would hope so, but looking at the whole tech industry, it seems everyone is moving towards chat bot from what previously have been great and accessible user interfaces...

On the xmpp front the issue is client support. Conversations doesn't have adhoc. Dino doesn't have it.

I was thinking the other day of a chat interface for adhoc to let you do stuff on clients without that.

The missing piece to me though is you want inline forms for some stuff. That's where slack, teams, discord shine and it makes sense for some things.
