matrix p2p is indeed obsolete. https://github.com/markqvist/Reticulum is the most advanced P2P in modern times.

  2. nandi

nandi: welcome back, I guess 🙂 I wrote this XMPP guide, with client, server, and channel recommendation - perhaps you'll find it useful. https://contrapunctus.codeberg.page/the-quick-and-easy-guide-to-xmpp.html

does xmpp support any other type of auth than user/password?

  12. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    > does xmpp support any other type of auth than user/password? yes. there are servers that run as companions to mastodon servers. and do it with oauth or something for example. there are also ldap examples. plus we have the invite system that avoids the password altogether

  13. nandi

any docs on this? I'm a developer trying to implement some interesting modern xmpp stuff.

I think part of the enshitification of the internet is devs are chasing newness and leaving good tech after it matures so the corporations always have a leg up

Anyone know any clients that support XEP-0201?

  21. Zash

nandi, dunno if https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apazJINa1UI follows XEP-0201 exactly, but it's some kind of threads

  22. nandi

    Thnx

  23. nandi

  24. nandi

ngl I kinda kinda the "separate window" feature they complain about in the video but haven't been able to find a client that actually does it yet

I did discover though you can long press and have thread show up in separate window
