    A: I think general consensus is towards using the auto-join flag as a solution to sync the "joined or not" status between multiple clients on the same account

    So it makes the difference between "account knows room exists" and "account is actually in the room"?

    So the opposite of ignoring it - if a client sees it change, it should leave/join the room accordingly

    There are some people who would like the ability to join rooms from some clients only though, which can make it a bit more complicated. My feeling is that we shouldn't try to solve for that use-case, I can't even name another chat system that has that kind of behaviour.

    Rather we should try and improve the reasons that people want that (e.g. fine-grained notification controls, etc.)
