raucao, Android works similarly to iOS. It knows if you have an XMPP client installed, that it should be used to open an xmpp: URI - i.e. it doesn't prompt the user

iOS is slightly more limited, in that if you have multiple handlers for 'xmpp:' installed (i.e. multiple XMPP apps) it won't let you select one of them, it just picks one ("randomly")

MattJ
If you have one, Android will just open that one automatically. If you have two, it shows you a choice

The iOS limitation isn't terrible, most "normal" people don't have multiple XMPP apps installed. But it's highly annoying for me, as I often have 2 or 3 for testing.

ti's still not the same. all of my various android phones don't do it with as few taps as ios
-
raucao
it's kind of funny that it's impossible to point out one good UX thing about ios, without having 4 people argue that android can do it, too
-
raucao
i'm not even an ios user, hate most things about it these days
-
raucao
i only use it for testing, too

heh. or point out about mac/windows without linux people coming to argue
-
raucao
btw, i had 2 xmpp apps installed on it, and it kind of messed it up
-
raucao
i suspect partly due to its limitations when it comes to using multiple apps for the same link type and such
-
raucao
if you suggest apps for ios to people, i'd recommend to also suggest to only use one at a time
-
MattJ
raucao, I'm away at the moment, but I can make a screen recording of both platforms if you're interested
-
raucao
there is no one android, so it's going to be difficult ;)
-

One problem with Android is inconsistency: the exact number of taps will vary depending on what camera app you are using, which varies not only on Android version but vendor as well (the Motorola app is not the same as the Samsung app)

Right :)
