jonas’
do we have general terms for the chat room domain in german yet?
-
zapb
Like "gruppen"?
-
jonas’
probably
-
wurstsalat
jonas’: in which context do you want to apply that term?
-
jonas’
I’m translating my snikket config
-
wurstsalat
I'd probably go with 'Gruppenchat-Server' or something like that. 'Gruppen' is already close to roster groups
-
Holger
Does 'modern XMPP' have roster groups? :-)
-
Link Mauve
In general it might be a good idea to move towards considering them as tags, which they are.
-
wurstsalat
moving away from the traditional roster concept, I think this is a good idea
-
lovetox
hm not sure
-
lovetox
my company recently forced us to use teams
-
Zash
Mmmmm Enterprise
-
lovetox
first i started opening chats with coworkers, and hat these long chatlist with different people
-
lovetox
but in the work env its often important to see who is online and who is not
-
lovetox
you dont want to start typing random names and wait for them to come up to see this
-
lovetox
i want to knwo who is online from a whole department etc
-
lovetox
so i know who i can write to
-
lovetox
so naturally the second thing i did is looking where i can add contacts to some kind of roster
-
lovetox
and make groups
-
lovetox
and Teams has that
-
lovetox
so this is basically the good old roste rwith groups
-
Zash
Also chats? Or is that groups? So confused.
-
lovetox
yes its 2 views
-
lovetox
one is the chatlist
-
lovetox
like Dino hs
-
Zash
Tons of views, all confusing
-
lovetox
the you can switch to the "Contacts" view
-
lovetox
and there you simply have a roster with groups
-
lovetox
and see who is online
-
lovetox
but i can see that for private use
-
lovetox
the "Contacts" view is not really important
-
lovetox
because privatly on phones etc
-
lovetox
i dont care if someone is online
-
lovetox
everyone is online all the time
-
lovetox
it simply doesnt matter
-
lovetox
but in work context this is a must have
