You can, it will help the editor to not have to do it, but otherwise it’s “their job”.

so im pretty finished with our new Onboarding Wizard in Gajim

i wonder how i should do the recommended server thing

right now we ship a list of servers

that offer IBR

but i fear this list will always be outdated

i could request a list from our server, but im not sure people will like it if i contact the gajim server on start

We need xmpp.org back with always updated list :)

Could shove something in DNS. There's some indirection and caching there that somewhat helps with the privacy aspects.

Could have a hardcoded list and a button to fetch more from wherever

i want to avoid the hardcoded list because of stable distributions
