    Is there a "how we do nicknames" part of this? I assume user nickname but I'm not sure that was actually mentioned when discussed

    Is the pitch for opt in basically the same as MUC was? basically add a new tag to the join presence that says "I am gc3"

    I think (and I think MattJ has agreed) that you don't annotate GC3 presence, because it's sent to the bare MUC JID, and it knows if you're already joined or not.

    Oh Hmm. I guess that's true it has to be sent to a different place. But then that means you need to know if the server supports GC3 before you join which is unfortunate. Unlike MUC on a GC1 server which just worked

    Some clients (I’ve heard) reject joining MUCs where the domain doesn’t advertise MUC.
